The 'Nipigon' and 'Orient Bay' were both sold and moved overland; Nipigon to Superior and Orient Bay to Long Lac, then Superior. The Orient Bay is still in service with Purvis Marine at Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
In 1971, NIPIGON was transferred from Lake Nipigon to Lake Superior by truck. Sold at Sarnia, Ont., April 10, 1972, at public auction, for $31,000, because of death of James Reid. No longer registered in Canada. Sank in the Gulf of Mexico, off the Louisiana coast, February 26, 1998. Crew rescued. http://greatlakes.bgsu.edu/vessel/view/005257

ReplyDeleteThe Russel Brothers Warping tug is likely the Onaman. Both it and the Nipigon were built in 1938. http://russelbrothers.ca/xonaman.html
